Naming Zebra Crossings a Beneficiary of Your Will or Trust

Interested in supporting Zebra Crossings but feel overwhelmed by the thought of writing another check or giving up your assets today? A simple, flexible, and versatile way to continue our mission for years to come is a gift in your will or living trust, known as a charitable bequest.

A bequest is a gift of personal property such as money, stock or bonds you leave to a nonprofit organization through your will or trust. Donors can specify cash, property, a percentage, or a share of an estate residue or a contingency designation.  A bequest is a gift for the future, which does not affect cash flow now and can create tax savings for your heirs.

Your will designates your beneficiaries and spells out your wishes. The beneficiaries would include your heirs and you can include provisions for charitable organizations as well. If you feel passionately about our mission, it is our hope that you will consider including Zebra Crossings in your plans.

Below is a sample sentence that can be adapted by you and your attorney to meet your specific intentions. You can include a specific item, a specific amount of money, a gift contingent upon certain events or a percentage of your estate.

By including a bequest to Zebra Crossings in your will or living trust, you are ensuring that we will be here to provide life-changing opportunities for children with chronic health conditions for generations to come.

We encourage you to talk with a professional advisor such as an attorney, CPA or financial advisor to find the right planned giving option for you and your family.

Stock Gifts and Beneficiary Designations

Are you passionate about Zebra Crossings even after your lifetime? It’s not only possible, it’s easy to do with a beneficiary designation, which identifies how specific assets will be distributed in your memory.

Consider naming Zebra Crossings as a beneficiary to receive assets such as stocks, retirement plans and life insurance policies. You simply fill out a form that is entirely separate from your will—which makes this approach an easy way to give.

Not only is it an easy way to give, but it’s also flexible—you aren’t locked into the choices you make today. You can review and adjust beneficiary designations anytime you want.

“Zebra Crossings is a fun place where you can go and feel safe because they understand how you feel. You get to express yourself and experience all kinds of things and nothing holds you back.”

- Luke, age 10

“It is an amazing experience to not feel alone in the world. To meet and share some wonderful kid stories has given me and my family so much hope for the future”

- Family Camp Parent

“Zebra Crossings has given my children a power they never would have learned to unleash. Here, they feel accepted, encouraged and understood. They are taught that what they believe to be their inadequacies, can really be the fire that burns inside of them and makes them a stronger, more courageous, and joyous person. Truly, Zebra Crossings has changed our lives for the better.”

- Thaia Katsos

“I am not sure there are many places where there are such kind, caring people.  It is also a place where others have chronic illnesses, some the same as yours.  It makes it a lot of fun to just talk and relate to someone that you can’t necessarily do at school.”

- Teen participant

“Before camp my son was embarrassed to go to the nurse. He wouldn’t take meds before gym, and then tried to hide his asthma symptoms and chest/lung pain.” Since camp, my son has been willing to take albuterol before gym class, has been more confident and willing to participate in groups with active outdoor activities.”

- Asthma Camp Parent
