Program Information
A typical day:
Day programs start anywhere between 8:30 and 10:00 am with registration, depending on the location of our program. The day gets started with fun and interactive games that allow participants to get to know each other. We take some time to establish group values and we will set a goal for the day. Late morning we provide a couple of activity options, which may include an art project, archery, and a sports game.
After lunch we will focus on the core activity that may include climbing tower, ropes course, trail biking, kayaking, horseback riding, (see below). Participants will be able to try new experiences that are often not available to them at home. They can challenge themselves to set their own goals and discover what they are capable of achieving. Our high staff ratios provide close supervision and the ability to break out in subgroups based on ability and comfort levels. We end our day around 4:30 pm with a closing activity that allows participants to reflect on a highlight of the day as well as a discovery about themselves that they can apply in their day to day lives.

Activities

Programs may vary in length and range from social gatherings to day event to even overnight retreats. Activity schedules are intentionally designed to meet the health conditions of each group. Participants are given a variety of recreational activities that meet a broad range of interests:
- Recreational games, sports, and activities
- Arts & crafts, pottery, woodworking
- Adventure: kayaking, climbing, hiking, mountain biking
- Natural world: gardening, art, photography
- Field trips
The days will balance active periods with “cool down’ activities.
Program Locations:
Zebra Crossings does not operate its own facility. Instead we conduct our programs in various locations that are best suited for the specific activity.
We may partner with camp facilities, local sports facilities, public parks, beaches, etc. Details will be provided for each program regarding facilities, staffing, directions, what to bring, contact information, etc. All program areas are reviewed for safety prior to conducting programs. Staff ratios will be adapted based on location and type of activity.
Program Cost:
All our programs are heavily subsidized and families only pay a small program fee to commit to the program. This fee helps us to underwrite some of the direct expenses of the program. However, it should never prohibit anyone from joining our programs as we will reduce it if needed.
Program Partners:
Zebra Crossings currently works with the following organizations:
