Program Tracks

diabetes_program_01Our goal is to allow as many participants as possible to find their own track or path in life. We want them to track and pursue their goals, to follow their dreams, and to discover what they are capable of achieving. Our programs will be inclusive for children with various chronic medical conditions.

It is important that you understand how our programs are structured and supported as you decide if we are a good fit for your child. We place programs in a specific track (yellow, orange or green) based on activities as well as season and terrain. As you choose a specific program please keep the following factors in mind: Specific program activities being offered, potential weather and temperatures, allergies may be affected by season and program locations and/or activities.

Please review the descriptions to identify which program may be appropriate for your child. We request a conversation with every new family to develop a better understanding of your child’s needs. Based on that conversation and your medical specialist recommendation we will place your child in the best suitable track. After spending time with your child in our programs we may contact you to review their track placement. If program space permits and if your child is placed in the green track, s/he may participate in orange or yellow programs as well. Orange track participants may join the yellow track.

Based on our program objectives and organizational resources including our program staffing model, all participants must be able to:
  • Shower, toilet, dress and feed themselves independently and with minimal supervision.

  • Walk 150 yards unassisted and without extreme fatigue.

  • Use of a wheelchair to aide in transitions /transportation may be considered.

  • Communicate his or her needs with our staff.Participate in group activities supervised at the indicated staff ratio level.

If your child has any restrictions or any cognitive, physical, developmental, or emotional needs, which may preclude your child from participating fully in our programs, please contact us. We will discuss the program format and activities with you and assess if our program would be a good fit for your child. Our goal is to set every child up for success and this starts with the parent as a partner conversation.
