Are you a ‘want to be leader’ and give back to other kids?

LIT Programs for ages 16-17
Starting 2011
The Leader In Training (LIT) Program is a unique program for a small group of high school juniors and seniors who have a chronic health condition and would like to become part of our community by volunteering their time to assist with youth programs as LIT.
The LIT program is a stepping stone for many participants towards becoming a Junior Staff and Program Staff member. LIT’s will receive training and guidance to support our youth programs and over time will take on more responsibility.

We will be looking for LIT’s who have a chronic health condition that we are currently serving in our youth and teen programs:
  • Asthma
  • Diabetes
  • Heart condition
  • Epilepsy / Seizures
  • Obesity
Together LIT’s form an inclusive group representing the various chronic health conditions that we serve. This group of LIT’s will participate in training weekends and the culminating field trip. However, they will be stepping into their LIT role for the youth and teen programs that match their own chronic health conditions. You will be able to relate to their experiences and have a chance to be a rolemodel for these youth and teens.

This program is designed as a year long program experience. We ask participants to commit to becoming a cohort group for the academic year. Please email us to apply for the LIT program starting in 2011.
