Shannon Banks, Chair - Brunswick, ME

Vice President of Delivery Systems Operations, Martin’s Point Health Care in Portland, ME

Shannon Banks currently serves as the Vice President, Quality, at Martin’s Point Health Care  which is based in Portland, Maine and provides health plans and primary care services in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York. At Martin’s Point she oversees quality initiatives for the health plan and the delivery system, including leading process improvement, risk management, informatics and business intelligence, and accreditation.  Shannon has worked in health care administration for 18 years. Shannon holds an MS in Organization and Management from Antioch New England University, and a B.A. in psychology from Bates College. Shannon has served on several non-profit boards. She and her partner and their four teenagers live in Brunswick, Maine.

Sarah Larson-Dennen, Vice-Chair - Durham, NH

Teacher at Oyster River School District in Durham, NH

Sarah has been a classroom teacher since 1998 teaching in Massachusetts and New Hampshire at both the middle and elementary school level.  Currently, she is a fourth grade teacher at Moharimet Elementary School in the Oyster River Cooperative School District in Durham, NH.  Sarah teaches in a self-contained, inclusive classroom where she works with students dealing with a variety of health issues and learning disabilities.   She enjoys exploring the outdoors with her students: maple sugaring, nature journal writing, painting and growing pumpkins.  She works to create a safe place for all students to be a part of a community and understands the importance of involving families in all aspects of learning. Sarah also works with the University of New Hampshire’s Teacher Education Program as a Cooperating Teacher for masters degree candidates

Before becoming a classroom teacher, Sarah worked as an experiential educator at The Hurricane Island Outward Bound School in Rockland, Maine, The Hulbert Outdoor Center in Fairlee, VT and Merrowvista  Education Center in Center Tuftonboro, NH.   Sarah and her husband, Chris, are actively involved with Camp O-At-Ka, a boy’s camp on the shores of Sebago Lake Maine. Sarah grew up in Wolfeboro, NH on a small family farm and is a graduate of Brewster Academy. She has a BA in English and Women’s Studies from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York and a MEd from the University of New Hampshire.  Sarah lives in Durham with her husband, Chris and their son, Reed.

 
charlesCharles Carey, Treasurer - Dover, NH

Charles is a life long musician who plays of variety of stringed instruments with two original-folk oriented bands.  He also works in Produce for Philbrick’s Fresh Market in North Hampton, NH.  Prior to this he worked for several years as an Executive Recruiter for the insurance industry and had spent twenty-three years in management of Purchasing, Logistics, Quality Assurance and Information Systems for Bossard International, an industrial distribution firm.
 
Charles holds a BS in Business Administration from New Hampshire College and an M.Ed in Organization and Management from Antioch New England University. He lives in Dover, NH near his two grown children.

  

adam chandlerAdam Chandler, Esq., Secretary - Merrimack, NH

Attorney at Nelson Kinder Masseau & Saturley in Manchester, NH

Adam Chandler is an Officer with the law firm of Nelson, Kinder, Mosseau & Saturley, P.C., with offices in Manchester, Boston, and Portland.  Adam specializes in complex commercial litigation, including diverse legal areas such as construction, employment, and general business litigation.  He has a BS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received his JD, with honors, from the Boston University School of Law.  Prior to moving to New Hampshire, Adam practiced law in Providence and Boston.

Adam is originally from northern Michigan.  Both he and his sister were diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes while teenagers.  He now resides in Merrimack with his wife, Rachel, and daughter, Amelia.

naomiNaomi Gauthier, M.D. - York, ME

Pediatric Cardiologist at CHaD at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH

Naomi Gauthier, MD is a board certified pediatric cardiologist at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock clinic with faculty affiliations with Dartmouth Medical School and Harvard Medical School. She received her Bachelor of Science from Duke University, her medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and completed her pediatric residency at the University of California, Davis, where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, and stayed for an additional year as Chief Resident. She completed her pediatric cardiology training at the University of Virginia, and moved back to New England to practice in coastal New Hampshire and Maine.  She has been involved with teaching pediatric life support courses in the U.S. and England, and has volunteered with the American Heart Association in numerous capacities including serving as a regional board member and as national faculty to help author the First Aid Guidelines.  She founded and runs a non-profit camp for children with heart disease, and volunteers in various ways for youth at the local community level.  She recently helped open a pediatric multi-specialty clinic designed to address her vision to develop a health care model of specialty care, education, and recreational programming that directly interacts with the local community to put disabilities in perspective and allow each child to reach their full potential.

heather picHeather Hesse- Stromberg, MSW - Rochester, NH

Community Organizer at Strafford Network 

Heather Hesse-Stromberg is the Program Coordinator of the Strafford Network, where as a Community Support Organizer she brings people together to identify community needs and facilitates collaboration to meet those needs in the most effective and efficient way.  Heather has worked in Social Services for over 15 years and is passionate about empowering people to help themselves.  She is involved in many projects in Strafford County including the Family Justice Center, Healthy Homes Strategic Plan, and the CA$H Coalition – all of which seek to improve people’s quality of life by reducing risks to their physical, emotional and financial well-being.  Heather holds a JD from Franklin Pierce Law Center and an MSW from UNH.  Heather’s favorite quote is “Obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off your goal.”

As the parent of a long-time Zebra Crossings participant, Heather is a champion for our mission and has a passionate energy for our programs because of the impact ZC has made in her daughter’s confidence and willingness to try new things.  She lives in Rochester with her husband, Greg, their daughter, Haiden, and their three very spoiled cats.
